Home The Legacy College of Prayer Ignite Events Pray First

The National Prayer Mobilization Team established the College of Prayer Canada in the spring of 1999. College of Prayer conducted a series of modules across Canada. The National Prayer Mobilization Team was later re-branded as the Alliance Pray! Team. This page is maintained as a historical archive. © 2025.

A Guide Booklet was provided to each participant of a module of College of Prayer. In the guide is a schedule for the 3.5 days, from Thursday evening to Sunday afternoon. Each person was assigned to a GAP group at registration for Growth, Accountability and Prayer - see the guide for more details. Friday was a day of Fasting. In the morning there were usually 2 teaching sessions. From Solo time was an opportunity to fast following the suggestions in the guide book. Two documents, "A Spiritual Inventory: Honesty with God, myself and others," and "Desperation for Revival" were used during this period for self help. At 1:30 pm there were separate men and women's sessions following "the Chair" format as outlined in the guide. Following, there was a break and before the evening session.

The Chair session was an opportunity to honestly share personal struggles and to request prayer from peers. Many barriers to effective life and ministry were broken and healed. By the time the group gathered for the evening session, there was a noticeable change in the atmosphere! It seemed easier for the session instructor as people seemed more receptive to learning more about prayer.

The third day had sessions, GAP groups and a Concert of Prayer in the evening which was open to the public. The fourth day, usually a Sunday, was in a local church with the module speaker giving the message. Following a lunch, there was a de-briefing so that the leadership could learn what had been effective during the module, and to hear testimonies.

The following list gives details and links from each module:

Chotka was born in St. Catharines, Ont., and served as a National Director of the United Church Renewal Fellowship for five years, during which time he contributed to and oversaw the production of several resources and articles on the themes of healing, deliverance, renewal and prayer. Rev. David Chotka has been a regular conference speaker since he was ordained as a pastor in 1983. Chotka has three earned degrees, including a Th.M. from Regent College, Vancouver, B.C., in which he examined the two (and sometimes three) S/spirit contrast in the book of Ephesians. He has preached across Canada and has recently led the prayer ministry sessions at the General Assembly of the Christian and Missionary Alliance in July 2002. As part of that task, he contributed to and oversaw the production of the six-week prayer course, "Lord, Teach Us to Pray". The Lord's prayer is a much overlooked resource. In fact it is the Magna Carta of the prayer life of our Lord himself. The model that it contains is in fact the very method commanded by our Lord himself. Its themes--the Father, heaven and earth, the kingdom, the will of God, reciprocal forgiveness--all these and more are highways to the central message of the entire New Testament. It contains an explicit and implicit recognition that Christ came to defeat the forces of darkness in our lives and in the world beyond. To pray it is to commit to service in the Lord's army in the greatest event in the history of the world--the emancipation of all people and indeed the entire creation from bondage to decay and the forces of darkness. It is to partner with God in the redemption process as we join our coming King in advancing God's rule here by pushing back the forces of the enemy. This is no prayer to pray if one wishes the remain the same. But it is the principle prayer to pray if one wishes to participate in seeing the action of the Spirit move in one's life and through the church fellowship.
